Ritual of infant baptism: rites of welcome. Theological and Liturgical Perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
It analyzes the gestures and words that make up the reception rites of the Children’s Baptism Ritual prepared by the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council in its edition-translation published by the Brazilian Episcopal Conference. It scales the reception rites and offers considerations drawn from Sacred Scripture, from liturgical sources (other liturgical books, Fathers of the Church and ecclesiastical authors) and from documents of the ecclesiastical magisterium, which serve the preparatory catechesis for the celebration, having in scope a conscious participation and active mainly on the part of parents and godparents. It seeks to raise parents and godparents’ awareness of their responsibilities to the child as it relates to the development of baptismal grace. To the minister of the sacrament, he demands knowledge and fidelity to the gestures and words proposed by the liturgical book.
