St. Hilary of Poitiers Exegetical method and theological method, with particular reference to his ecclesiology
Main Article Content
Abstract
To study the exegetical-theological method of Saint Hilary of Poitiers, in particular the ecclesiological dimension of his doctrine, puts in evidence a fundamental resource for the correct understanding and the full use of his work: the “ecclesiological figures”. They open the reflection of the saint doctor to the spiritual dimension of the Holy Scripture and liberate his discourse from the conditioning of the need to defend the orthodoxy. Thus, in Hilary’s thought, different dimensions of the theology are implicated and assumed reciprocally. Trinitarian, Christology, anthropology, soteriology, ecclesiology and eschatology compose among themselves inseparable conceptual unity. Moving with this ductility between the different levels of the reflection allows our author to explore with a great spontaneity and sharpness the revealed mystery.
