Abstract

In this year 2017, we celebrate two significant Marian dates: the tercentenary of the encounter of the Image of Our Lady of the Conception, later known as Aparecida, and the centenary of the apparitions of Our Lady in Fatima. The person of Mary has a special place in the life of the Church, because she had great importance, before, in the life of Jesus, her founder. Particular relevant is the figure of Our Lady for the priests. Therefore, in this article, we propose a biblical, theological and spiritual reflection on the maternal / filial relationship between Mary and the presbyters of the Church. Our reflection will be based, above all, on the Gospel of St. John, particularly in the comparative study between the episode of the Wedding of Cana and the passion and death of Jesus. We want to see how Mary is present in Jesus’ life, Eternal Priest, and in the life of every priest, and how they should welcome the Mother of God as their mother.
