Abstract

We have an experience of acts/ actions that are free or relatively free. Other experiences, however, take place without depending on man’s will. However, can it really be said that man’s action is free or is that action so conditioned that he cannot escape the causes of his determination? When reflecting on one of the biggest issues that man has ever addressed, Freedom, Henri Bergson makes his contribution by introducing the concept in the category of time, detached from the category of space, when talking about “duration”, a concept that will be the basis of his philosophical work. We will confront his positions with the thought of Jacques Maritain and Xavier Zubiri, to expose some conclusions that we can reach from his vision of human freedom.
