Contribution of the derasic method to the Christology of John
Main Article Content
Abstract
It analyzes the Derash neo-testamentary as a hermeneutical method for interpreting and updating the scriptures of the Old Testament in relation to the person of Jesus Christ and his works. The Catholic exegesis is seen in the Derash method as a tool that ensures the internal unity of the texts as a set of testimonies of the same tradition. In this sense, the Derash provides the necessary Christological basis to preserve the continuity between the historical Jesus and the Christ of faith against rupture caused by liberal theology in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The Derash method approaches the Holy Scriptures as of its internal unity, from fullness of meaning and messianic value, which means better understanding of the spirit in which they were written within the context of Judaism.
