Human intelligence vs. artificial intelligence: a theological perspective

Main Article Content

Abstract

The article explores the challenges that artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics pose to Christian theology, focusing on themes such as origin, creation, and limits. From a theological perspective, the production of AI machines cannot be equated with the creation of man, who possesses an intrinsic dignity based on his transcendence and destiny for communion with God. Christian theology encourages understanding he dynamics of the relationship between man and machine, which could radically transform our way of living, always maintaining a vigilant and objective discernment of good and evil in human actions. In this context, the philosophy of the person can complement theology: it seeks to define the boundaries between person and machine through reason, which is complementary to faith; it proposes an anthropocentric and not technocentric vision, and affirms the dignity of the human person, who cannot be reduced to a machine or mere functions.
