The practice of virtues in the mystical journey of Saint Augustine
Main Article Content
Abstract
It analyzes the route of ascent of the soul at the thought of St. Augustine from reading some of his works, particularly the treatise “On the potentiality of the soul”, in which the last four out of seven steps of elevation are presented. From the discussion about the lexemes “mystical” and “mysticism”, various meanings of the terms in question are confronted in the course of the History of Philosophy, mainly in Plotinus and in some nineteenth-century authors, highlighting the legacy of the mystical Neoplatonic Augustinian.
