Modernity and postmodernity facing the Christian announcement
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article aims to show how the magisterium of the Church, from the Second Vatican Council until today, alongside its native theological-pastoral value, also possesses an undoubted cultural depth, capable of responding adequately to the challenges that the modern and postmodern mentality poses to evangelization. Three topics, traced back to as many European authors, are examined for this purpose: history vs. faith (Lessing), thought vs. person (Hegel), and nihilistic individualism vs. mercy (Rilke), and useful elements for a critical dialogue against the three positions evoked are briefly provided.
