The theological motives of penitential practice in the ancient Church. An analysis in the light of the Magisterium
Main Article Content
Abstract
The theological reasons of the penitencial practice of Old Church between IInd and 6th centuries lie on the relation baptism-penitence and so the sacrament of the penitence should be administrated only one time during the life. A small historical panorama, from magisterial texts, help us understanding this deep relation and, as a consequence, the non-repetition of this sacrament by the Church. We wish to evidence how history brings its influences on theology itself and how in each period the Magister acts to solve the issues that concern to it.
