Eros versus Agape?
Main Article Content
Abstract
This text intends to show, from the perspective of Pope Benedict XVI, the apparent opposition between Eros and Agape. This contrast has become deeper with the critics of Nietzsche and existentialism, in which is accused the elimination of the Eros on the part of Christianity and the absurdity of human relations. Added to these assumptions is the widespread propaganda of an egoistic form of relations of mere satisfaction. Facing this reality, Pope Benedict presents the redemption carried out in Christ as a model of union and true conciliation of eros and agape, opened to man as a door to full realization of himself and others.
