The actuality of the confraternities and the juridical bases for their promotion in the service of the Church

Abstract
In dialogue with new social and cultural situations, the faithful have the right and the duty to announce the Gospel in the different ways that the Holy Spirit inspires in the Church. For this reason, the topic of associations of the faithful, completely reorganized in the new Code, is of great importance in the canonical order, which dedicates 32 canons to it, and is of essential importance for the life and activity of the Church. Essential importance, since the exercise of the right of association is one of the ways through which the progressive participation of the faithful in the common mission of the Church in the world is carried out. Through the control and surveillance of the ecclesiastical authority, a common and effective action of the associations is guaranteed, which tends towards some ends, such as: the implementation of a more perfect Christian life, the promotion of public worship (specific purpose of the confraternities) or doctrine Christian and apostolic works. Faced with the immense mission that the Church has in the world, Christians are called to know what instruments the Church makes available to carry out Christ’s mission.
