Is the study of theology necessary to be a good priest?
Main Article Content
Abstract
By justifying the need for the study of theology in priestly formation, it becomes evident how pastoral charity, lived in the mystery of Christ, presupposes the experience of the gift of self, which is part of the identity and action of the priest. Avoiding the risks of both a disincarnated spiritualism and an activism that neglects the inner life, theological reflection emerges as a guide, which balances personal practice of faith and pastoral commitment. It is in the relationship between knowledge and faith that the love for God shapes a good theologian, capable of dialoguing with the world of culture and science, promoting the new evangelization.
